A Message from our Superintendent

Dr. Tamra S. Collins

A-May-Zing! That’s how I will describe this month of May. D19 we showed out!! This month we celebrated two amazing STEM events, our annual STEMlympics and the 1st Inaugural D19 Farmer’s Market & Hydroponics Design Challenge in which our students displayed their ingenuity and innovation. Our talented scholars were jamming at the Brooklyn Steel Pan Jamboree, and boldly broke barriers at our annual Arts Showcase. Across the district our students used their voices to advocate for change. Our GEMs executed their Action Day as part of their call-to-action service-learning projects, while our MBK young men put the finishing touches on their call-to-action presentations. Student voice continued to be lifted as one of our D19 scholars spoke at the United Nations about discrimination and inequality.

A special thank you to the D19 CEC for leading the work around planning for the Health & Wellness Fair. It was a great day of community, collaboration, and fun! I would also like to highlight our first District 19 Hiring Fair which was well attended by potential candidates,

and kudos to all of our school teams for your participation.

It is no May-be…D19 is definitely the place to be!!

This month D19 you reminded us that all things are possible in May!

We M-made this month count, A-achieved some new goals…Y- you did it!!
